Foundations for a science of agents
Statement
Agents are the building blocks of social systems. Firms, markets, institutions, and societies all emerge from agents interacting under constraints. Yet we have no equivalent of thermodynamics for agents and no universal laws or scaling relations that predict when such systems will fail. We cannot say when markets will collapse, why institutions die, or how to design mechanisms that actually work.
The theoretical foundations for understanding social systems do not exist.
At IMST, we are building them.
About
IMST was founded in 2025 to develop a mathematical theory of agents and the social systems they comprise. Based in New York.
